Welcome to the Oklahoma Towns Project website. It is a personal goal of mine to visit and photograph every town in Oklahoma. I have lived here all of my life and have seen some towns disappear with little evidence that they ever existed. This is very unfortunate. It is my goal to preserve these towns through photography.
So Why Do It:
I love Oklahoma. My dad set the example as I was growing up. We visited several, if not most, historical sites in Oklahoma. These are some of my most treasured memories.
I enjoy exploring Oklahoma and its many beauties. Other states do not hold a candle to the diversity of things to see, visit, and experience.
As you know, things/places/people do not stay the same, and some of the small towns have already disappeared. Unfortunately, some of this history has been lost. Oklahoma's history and places are ours and our grandchildren's treasures, and they need to be preserved.
I hope you enjoy the photographs. If I have not photographed your hometown, let me know by email and I will make every effort to get them taken and posted. It is also helpful to let me know of any specific photos you would like to see. In addition, if you have any old photos of your hometown, I would love to have a copy. Thank You,
